Late Antique volcanic shocks and cooling

World history · Culture

Ice-core and tree-ring records link major eruptions in 536 and 540, and possibly another around 547, with reduced irradiance and cooling in several regions. Their social consequences were uneven, and direct links to wars, migrations, or regime change remain hypotheses rather than single explanations.
