Chernobyl nuclear accident

World history · Technology · Culture

The accident at Chernobyl’s reactor 4 released large amounts of radiation and caused evacuations, contamination, and long-term health and social effects. Its worldwide significance includes changes in cooperation, safety, and perceptions of nuclear risk; it does not justify unqualified extrapolation to every nuclear system.
