1858 AD–1875 AD
London main drainage and Bazalgette’s sewer network
Agua e infraestructura hidráulica · Saneamiento urbano · Alcantarillado · Salud pública
After the sanitary and political crisis of 1858, the Metropolitan Board of Works implemented Joseph Bazalgette’s interceptor-sewer system. The network moved wastewater away from central London and its main works were completed in 1875. This entry records a material and institutional response; it does not replace John Snow’s epidemiological investigation or assign every health outcome to one project.
