Akosombo Dam, Lake Volta, and resettlement

Agua e infraestructura hidráulica · Presas · Reasentamiento · Hidroelectricidad

Akosombo Dam, built for the Volta River Project, created a large reservoir and entered service in 1966. World Bank records describe the resettlement of about 80,000 people from hundreds of villages into dozens of new settlements. This entry links hydropower and resettlement without reducing them to one balance sheet: housing, land, services, and later outcomes were uneven and need evaluation community by community.
