The “revolution in military affairs” debate
War & military technology · Debates historiográficos · Información militar · Municiones guiadas · Doctrina
After 1991, analysts and military establishments debated whether information networks, sensors, precision munitions, and new organizations were producing a “revolution in military affairs” (RMA). The concept encouraged reforms and expectations of situational knowledge and stand-off attack, but remained contested: technology, doctrine, force structure, adversaries, and political objectives do not change at the same pace. The label is neither a historiographical consensus nor an automatic predictor of outcomes in later conflicts.
