Standing army and administration under Louis XIV
War & military technology · Ejércitos permanentes · Administración militar · Reclutamiento · Fiscalidad de guerra
Louis XIV’s government expanded and administered one of Europe’s largest standing armies through officer hierarchies, war procedures, patronage, and fiscal resources. Reforms consolidated over decades, with uneven results and considerable autonomy among commanders; they do not describe a fully centralized bureaucracy or a linear modernization displacing dynastic and noble interests altogether.
