Indian Ocean artillery-expertise networks
War & military technology · Artillería · Transferencia tecnológica · Redes marítimas · Fabricación de armas
Across the Indian Ocean, knowledge of casting, artillery, and firearms circulated among Ottoman specialists, South Asian states, Southeast Asian ports, and European powers. Cases such as Bijapur show local borrowing and redesign of cannon, while Indian arsenals already held specialists before Portuguese expansion. This is not a simple one-way transfer or a scale of “advance” and “backwardness.”
