The statutes rule out new deliberate posthumous awards
Nobel Prizes · Nobel institutions
From 1974, work by a person already deceased is not considered for a prize. If death occurs after the decision, the prize may still be presented; the rule distinguishes those cases from Karlfeldt in 1931 and Hammarskjöld in 1961.
