1486 AD
Earliest surviving reference to Ulrich Fugger’s bank
Money, banking & finance · Banca y crédito
A municipal record from Augsburg in December 1486 contains the earliest known reference to Ulrich Fugger’s bank and to an instruction to transfer money to Venice. It is precise evidence of financial intermediation in European merchant networks, not a founding date for all Fugger banking or a measure of its later power.
