British banking crisis of 1825–1826

Money, banking & finance · Banca, liquidez y crisis

The 1825 crisis exposed the failure of many provincial banks and led the Bank of England to reconsider opening branches; legislative authorization followed in 1826. It is an institutional change arising from a particular crisis, not proof that a branch network by itself eliminates banking or credit risk.
