1814 CE–1824 CE
Mexican constitutionalism: Apatzingán and federation
Law & constitutions · Constitucionalismo, federalismo e independencia
The 1814 Apatzingán decree formulated an insurgent constitution that was never implemented; the 1824 federal Constitution established a federal republic. Both texts responded to wars and disputes over sovereignty, territory, and religion, not a uniform constitutional transition.
