Pullman strike and American Railway Union boycott

Trabajo y organización laboral · Ferrocarriles · Boicots · Exclusión racial

Pullman workers began a strike in May 1894 after a grievance committee failed to negotiate with the company; the American Railway Union later backed a railway boycott. The action shows national coordination and its limits: the ARU itself restricted membership to white railroad employees, and federal intervention helped defeat the protest. It is not presented as a unified victory or as representation of all railway workers.
