Natural selection and the unresolved problem of heredity
Genética y biotecnología · Herencia · Evolution · Historia de las ideas
In *On the Origin of Species*, Darwin proposed natural selection but did not provide a mechanism of inheritance that resolved how variation was retained. This entry marks a theoretical problem that prompted later research; it does not credit Darwin with Mendelian genetics, which did not yet exist.
