Recognition of Nipah virus in Malaysia and Singapore

Epidemics & public health · Nipah · Enfermedades zoonóticas · Control de brotes

Nipah virus was identified during an outbreak among pig-farm workers in Malaysia in 1998, followed by a 1999 outbreak in Singapore linked to imported sick pigs. The case showed zoonotic risks associated with production chains and animal movement, without making all animal contact equivalent routes of infection.
