Parsons steam turbogenerator
Energy · Technology · Infrastructure
Charles Parsons’s prototype combined a multistage steam turbine with a high-speed electrical generator. The turbine offered a more compact, efficient alternative to the reciprocating engine and became a forerunner of power-station turbogenerators; it was not the sole origin of modern generation.
