1940 AD–1942 AD
Convention on Nature Protection in the Western Hemisphere
Climate & environment · Derecho ambiental · Fauna migratoria · Áreas protegidas · Cooperación internacional
The inter-American convention opened for signature in 1940 and entered into force in 1942. It defined national parks, reserves, and nature monuments, and called for measures for migratory birds crossing American borders. It was an early norm of cooperation, but left the adoption and implementation of measures to governments; it did not guarantee equivalent protection among countries.
