Samalas eruption

Climate & environment · Volcanismo · Aerosoles · Núcleos de hielo

The 1257 Samalas eruption in present-day Indonesia left a sulfate signal in ice cores and is studied as a major thirteenth-century volcanic forcing. Reconstructions of its magnitude and regional climatic responses are refined as new evidence emerges; temporal coincidence alone does not demonstrate specific social effects.
