Basel Convention on transboundary movements of hazardous wastes
Climate & environment · Residuos peligrosos · Contaminación · Derecho ambiental · Cooperación internacional
The Basel Convention was adopted in 1989 and entered into force in 1992. It established a framework to control transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and their disposal through prior notification and consent; it regulates movements and responsibilities among Parties, rather than amounting to an absolute ban on all waste or identical management capacity in every country.
